Inhaca Island just across the bay from Maputo, an ideal getaway from busy life, daily flights and at the weekends a ferry takes you across to this sleepy Mozambique Island.

The main road north from Maputo is a tar road that goes to Xai Xai, Inhambane and Vilanculos. South of Maputo is the Maputo Elephant reserve, and the small village of Ponta Do Ouro is only 130 km from Maputo down a 4wd sandy track.
